Teeth Whitening
Dealing with stubborn stains? Regular dental cleanings help remove some surface stains, but teeth whitening is sometimes needed to really brighten a smile. Within one or two treatments, you’ll be smiling confidently with noticeably whiter teeth!
What Kind of Stains Can Whitening Tackle?
Whitening is most effective on yellowish stains. These are primarily extrinsic, meaning they only affect the surface of the teeth. Grayish stains generally mean the discoloration is intrinsic, or formed from inside the tooth. These stains are resistant to teeth whitening, but alternative treatments like veneers or crowns can make your smile brighter.
What to Expect During Treatment
During treatment, we will use a hydrogen peroxide-based gel or a carbamide peroxide gel to safely lift stains. Our dentist will help select the ideal treatment option based on the type and extent of your stains. Once applied, the safe chemical solutions will penetrate the teeth and break apart staining compounds, resulting in a dazzling smile.
No special prep is required before a whitening treatment, but we recommend coming with clean teeth to get the best results. If you have sensitivity, we encourage you to schedule a consultation about 1-2 weeks before the appointment so we can prepare the ideal treatment plan.
Things to Consider Before a Whitening Treatment
Some people experience temporary tooth sensitivity from whitening. If you have any concerns, we can provide desensitizing toothpaste and gel to make the process more comfortable. We also recommend addressing issues like gum disease or untreated cavities before undergoing whitening treatment. Finally, results will always vary per person based on genetics, diet, and other factors.
Gentle yet effective
Our whitening gel is developed by dentists and is safe on enamel. 99% of patients surveyed experienced little or no sensitivity during the Whitespeed treatment.
